What are FIBC bags
A flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC), bulk bag, is an industrial container made of flexible fabric that is designed for storing and transporting dry, flowable products, such as sand, fertilizer, and granules of plastic.
We also know FIBC bags as Jumbo bags or Big Bags.
FIBCs are most often made of thick woven polyethylene or polypropylene, either coated or uncoated, and normally measure around 45–48 inches (114–122 cm) in diameter and varies in height from 100 to 200 cm (39 to 79 inches). Its capacity is normally around 1,000 kg or 2,200 lb, but the larger units can store even more. A bulk bag designed to transport one metric ton (0.98 long tons; 1.1 short tons) of material will itself only weigh 5–7 lb (2.3–3.2 kg).
The uses of FIBC bags in transport
Bulk bags are used widely in transportation, for varied kinds of goods, such as below:
- Chemicals
- Pharmaceutical drugs
- Fertilizers
- Fiberglass
- Food products
- Grains
- Shotcrete
- Construction materials (sand, gravel)
- Pigments
- Plastics
- Refractories
- Seeds
- Salt
- Peanuts
- Starch
- Hazardous Waste Material – UN Rated
- Fly ash
The advantages of using FIBC bags
- Improved safety: The manual handling of bulk material in bags and drums, in addition to the discharging of material into process equipment can expose workers to lifting injuries. Bulk bags require less manual movement since they require mechanical means (fork truck, pallet jack, or hoist ) to move the container and introduce them into the process. - Cost savings: The labor cost per container is typically reduced when bulk bags are used. The lifting, opening, dumping, and disposal of forty, 50lb. paper bags are in most cases greater than positioning and opening one 2000lb. bulk bag.
- Economical packaging: As bag capacity increases, tare weight as a percentage of material weight decreases. This means more material can be shipped with less packaging for the same cost. Properly sized bulk bags can also be positioned and stacked more efficiently to heights exceeding that of smaller bags, maximizing shipping container usage and storage facility space. When determining if your product or process is suitable for bulk bag use, it is important to work with an experienced bulk bag supplier. A large percentage of complaints to bulk bag and machinery manufacturers are due to improper bag sizing or styles.
FIBCs bags made with PP filler masterbatch
FIBCs bag is one kind of woven sacks that they can use PP filler masterbatch to load into mixing materials in production. Fillplas has the PP filler masterbatch to provide for making this bag product. You could visit our website to have more information about this filler.
